Sports-related Injuries

At Agape Physical Therapy, we specialize in treating a variety of sports-related injuries with personalized care and attention. Our team is dedicated to helping athletes of all levels recover from injuries and get back to their peak performance. Here are some of the common sports injuries we address:

  1. Sprains and strains: These are among the most common sports injuries, involving overstretching or tearing of ligaments (sprains) or muscles/tendons (strains).
  2. Fractures: Broken bones can occur from impact or overuse, such as stress fractures.
  3. Tendonitis and bursitis: Inflammation of tendons (tendonitis) or bursae (small fluid-filled sacs that cushion joints) can result from repetitive motions or sudden impacts.
  4. Knee injuries: These can include ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) tears, meniscus tears, and patellar dislocations.
  5. Shoulder injuries: Rotator cuff tears, shoulder impingement, and labral tears are common in sports like swimming, tennis, and baseball.
  6. Ankle injuries: Sprained ankles are prevalent in sports that involve cutting, pivoting, or jumping.
  7. Concussions: Traumatic brain injuries can occur in contact sports like football, rugby, and hockey.
  8. Muscle contusions: Also known as bruises, these result from direct blows to muscles.
  9. Overuse injuries: Conditions like tendinopathy (chronic tendon injury), stress fractures, and iliotibial band syndrome can develop from repetitive stress on muscles and joints.
  10. Dislocations: Joints such as the shoulder, elbow, and knee can become dislocated during sports activities.

Our Physical therapists work to rehabilitate these injuries through techniques such as manual therapy techniques to restore normal joint and soft tissue mechanics, exercises to strengthen and stabilize muscles, modalities like electrical stimulation, Ice massage, and cupping, and education on injury prevention and proper biomechanics. They tailor treatment plans to the specific needs and goals of each individual athlete, aiming to restore function, reduce pain, and prevent re-injury.
